Seradata Ltd (Space Equipment Research & Analysis), was created in 2013 via a management buyout of the SpaceTrak product from Reed Business Information Ltd (part of Reed-Elsevier plc), owner of the Flightglobal and Ascend businesses.
Seradata‘s mission is to provide the Space Industry with world class decision support tools, data and analysis.
Following a consultancy request from the aviation insurance broker, Willis, in 1979, Aviation Information Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airclaims Group Limited, researched launch vehicle failure rates. With the client’s permission, this research was converted into the monthly updated Space Review print publication, which rapidly became regarded as “bible” by Lloyd’s of London underwriters wanting to insure satellites and their launches.
This data was subsequently turned into the Ecco database in the late 1980s. After a major redevelopment, it was relaunched as SpaceTrak in 1997, shifting online in 2005. The latest SpaceTrak3 system was introduced in April 2015 providing a modern, dynamic interface and reporting environment.
