Upcoming launch services provider Virgin Orbit, have announced that they have been selected by the US Department of Defense (DoD), to launch a Space Test Program (STP) payload using their air-launched LauncherOne light launch vehicle. The launch is scheduled to take place in January 2019, and marks the first DoD contract for Virgin Orbit.
