Es’Hailsat of Qatar has ordered a Falcon 9 launch for its Es’Hailsat 2 communications satellite. The order was made after Arianespace declined to bid finding it could not fit the spacecraft into its launch schedule reports Space News. The launch order was signed on 28 December 2014 and the launch is set to take place in late 2016. According to the report, Arianespace was unable to fit this larger satellite using Mitsubishi Electric’s DS-2000 bus design into its launch schedule for 2016 given it would need one of the “larger” slots on its dual launches.
