Announced on 25 August 2020, was the signing of a contract between European satellite manufacturer, OHB Group, and US headquartered, Rocket Lab. The contract covers the procurement of an dedicated Electron rocket launch, from the Rocket Lab New Zealand launch pad, in “early-2021”.
The payload is as yet undisclosed however, it is described as an “communications satellite” being built by OHB for a third-party customer. The contract has been procured by a OHB subsidiary, OHB Cosmos International Launch Service GmbH. A dedicated launch services arm of OHB.
