The firm Clyde Space (aka AAC Clyde) has been given a contract worth US$5.9 million by Orbcomm to build and operate two 4 kg CubeSat class spacecraft each carrying three Automatic Identification System ship-tracking receivers. The spacecraft will be launched in 2020 with the AIS data being given to and used by Orbcomm.
In its more traditional role as a CubeSat-class spacecraft manufacturer, Clyde Space has had its US$637,000 deal with the Polish FP Space Consortium (involving KP Labs) confirmed in which it acts as a subcontractor to build the bus for the Intuition 1 hyperspectral imaging Earth observation spacecraft to be launched in 2022.
