The Wideband Global Satcom 7, otherwise known as WGS 7, was successfully launched from the Cape Canaveral launch site in Florida by a Delta IVM Plus 5,4 launch vehicle provided by ULA (United Launch Alliance). The Boeing built WGS 7 for the US Department of Defence is reported to have a communications bandwidth – a key factor in determining how much data it can carry – which is 17% more than its predecessors.
