History

Following a consultancy request from the aviation insurance broker, Willis, in 1979, Aviation Information Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airclaims Group Limited, researched launch vehicle failure rates. With the client’s permission, this research was converted into the monthly updated Space Review print publication, which rapidly became regarded as “bible” by Lloyd’s of London underwriters wanting to insure satellites and their launches.

This space data was subsequently turned into the Ecco database in the late 1980s. After a major redevelopment, it was relaunched as SpaceTrak in 1997, shifting online in 2005. The Seradata platform (formerly SpaceTrak) was introduced in 2015 providing a modern, dynamic interface and reporting environment for space data research and analysis.

Seradata was acquired by Slingshot Aerospace in 2022. Together, Seradata and Slingshot elevate the ability to monitor, simulate, and optimize space systems with our dynamic virtual environments and decision intelligence technology.
