As General Manager of Seradata, Melissa leads the team to empower organizations with actionable insight, supporting the responsible uses of space through our comprehensive database. Melissa is driving the global expansion of Slingshot Aerospace to deliver the acceleration of space sustainability.
Previously, as Director of Spaceport Cornwall, Melissa was instrumental in advancing the development of the UK launch industry resulting in the country’s first satellite launch. Melissa has a wealth of experience in space operations, a deep understanding of the space industry, and a background in business and economics. She is a keynote speaker, media spokesperson and recognised thought leader in the industry.
Melissa holds a Master of Science Degree from the London School of Economics and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. She is passionate about using space to benefit life on Earth, as well inspiring the next generation into the space industry.
Head of Space Content
David is Head of Space Content for Seradata, with overall responsibility for the Seradata launch and satellite database. He is also Editor of Seradata’s news service, Seradata Space Intelligence.
David has been a space analyst and consultant working on the Seradata (formerly SpaceTrak) database since 1997 when he acted as the editor for the launch of the original version, then produced by Airclaims. Since then, David has worked in similar roles for Ascend, Flightglobal and Seradata. Most recently David has been instrumental in the development and marketing of latest version of the database.
David holds three engineering degrees including a Master of Science degree in Astronautics and Space Engineering from Cranfield University. David also holds a science teaching qualification. During his Engineering degree studies, David won the British Airways prize for Air Transport Engineering and a Guinness Peat Aviation Fellowship. David is a life member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society.
Elspeth joined Seradata in October 2018 and is responsible for the smooth running of office functions including subscription renewals, software development and organising conferences. Elspeth also supports several data areas including orbital manoeuvres and people data / GDPR compliance.
Elspeth has a diverse background including previous experience in Sales and Marketing in multiple industries.
Matthew joined Seradata in 2016 and has worked on all areas of the Seradata product gaining deep insight into the spacecraft, launchers, and organisations that make up the modern Space Industry. He now ensures the future launch schedule is accurate and has responsibility for the entry of new satellites/constellations into the database, satellite and launcher cost/value data, satellite propulsion systems.
In 2022 Matt was promoted to Data Manager with overall responsibility for Data Team.
Matthew is a graduate of the University of Wolverhampton. He has also taken a Space Systems Engineering course at the University of Southampton. From a young age he has had a fascination with both the realities and potentials of space, covering the real-life exploration of our Solar System to an enjoyment of space fiction.
Customer Support Manager
Derek is our Customer Support Manager and a Data Researcher, providing support to customers with their queries as well as product training to Seradata users.
Derek conducts research and analysis of both satellite and launch vehicles for the company.
Derek has over 27 years’ experience in the Aviation and Space sectors. Prior to joining Seradata, Derek served as Sales and Customer Support Manager at Airclaims (now Cirium) on Aviation and Space products and services.
Jonathan first joined Seradata in February 2021 as an intern analysing and collating orbital data. In October 2021, Jonathan was offered a full-time position as one of our key researchers. Jonathan leads our Orbital event data research and undertakes research and analysis of satellite payloads and systems.
Jonathan holds two degrees: a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Sheffield followed by a Masters degree in Space Exploration Systems from the University of Leicester.
Companies Editor / Researcher
Farah joined Seradata in April 2022 as Companies Editor / Researcher. Farah focuses on company/organisation profiles and specialises in financial information. Farah also writes and deputy edits the Seradata Space Intelligence newsletter.
Farah achieved a distinction in a Masters in Financial Journalism from City, University of London and, earlier, read English Literature at Girton College, Cambridge.
Prior to her role at Seradata, Farah was a business reporter at London business newspaper City A.M. Growing up in Leicester (home of the National Space Centre) gave Farah unique opportunities to explore her fascination with space and led to one of her favourite memories: speaking live with cosmonauts in the International Space Station, while participating in the International Space Olympics in Moscow.
Lead Software Engineer
Chris Hart, our Lead Software Engineer, is passionate about creating efficient and effective software solutions. Joining Seradata in 2022 with over 15 years of experience in the software industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team.
Before joining us, Chris worked as a Director at a software consultancy and contractor to Seradata for 10 years, where he led a team of engineers and oversaw the development of software applications for Seradata and other customers across various industries. Prior to that, he spent five years at Flightglobal where he developed database software solutions and QA automation systems for the aviation industry.
Chris holds a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Warwick University, which provides a strong foundation in the technical aspects of software development. His expertise in software architecture, programming languages, and project management has enabled him to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients.
Sweta joined Seradata in November 2022 as our Sales Manager and is responsible for lead generation for the Seradata service. This includes online demonstrations of the database, creating quotes, and following up to close order.
Sweta holds two degrees: a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Reading and a Master of Science degree in International Health Management from Imperial College London. Sweta has previous sales experience from her time in the healthcare sector.
