At 0151 GMT on 20 November 2021, a Long March 4B (CZ-4B) rocket was successfully launched from the Taiyuan launch base in China. Aboard the launch was a Gaofen 11-03 spacecraft which is thought to be a civilian optical Earth imaging/remote sensing satellite but which may have military applications. The 163 kg spacecraft, which carries a Carrying high resolution optical imager will officially be used for land survey, urban planning road network design and disaster relief. It was built by the CASC (China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp). The orbit achieved was 694 x 247 km with an inclination of 97.5 degrees. Like other Gaofen 11 satellites, the orbit is expected to be circularised into a full Sun-synchronous orbit after a period of several months.
