The Chinese successfully launched a Long March 4C (CZ-4C) launch vehicle from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre, China at 2344 GMT on 2 September. The vehicle was carrying Yaogan 33-2, a 2.7 metric ton Chinese military radar Earth observation satellite. Despite its numbering, this was the third in the series of Yaogan 33 satellites built by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST). The first, Yaogan 33, was lost in a Long March 4C (CZ-4C) launch failure in 2019. A replacement Yaogan 33(R) was launched in December 2020. The class has a reputed radar Earth observation resolution of 0.5m.
