The 805kg satellites which are derivatives of the earlier Gaofen series, are built by China Spacesat Co which is a civilian subsidiary of CASC (China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp). The spacecraft are civilian imaging satellites with a payload of two imaging cameras.  The imaging payload has a panchromatic imaging resolution of 2m, while the multispectral resolution is 8m for a swath width of 66km.
