A Long March 3B-G2 (CZ-3B-G2) launch vehicle successfully launched the military communications satellite Chinasat 2C (Zhongxing 2C) into orbit on its way to Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) from the Xichang launch site in China at 1625 GMT on 3 November 2015. The spacecraft is thought to be a Shentong-class military communications satellite. The Shentong satellites are operated by the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) to provide secure voice and data communications services for PLA units using Ku-Band systems. The 5,200kg spacecraft uses the CAST-built DFH-4 platform/bus.
