It is sad to note that media sources are reporting the demise of the small satellite maker AeroAstro. According to the reports, Comtech Telecommunications Corp decided to shut down its AeroAstro devision after the US Navy cancelled the construction of its JMAPS mission spacecraft earlier this year.
According to the Flightglobal/Ascend SpaceTrak database, the manufacturer specialised in building small satellites for US Government agencies. It was the prime contractor for the ALEXIS spacecraft for the Los Alamos laboratory, TERRIERS and HETE 2 for NASA, and STPSAT-1 for the US Air Force, and built the main bus for STPSAT-2 under prime contractor Ball Aerospace.
