Launching from the Tanegashima Space Center, Japan, at 0434 GMT, 27 February, an H-2A medium lift rocket has carried the IGS-6 (Optical) spacecraft to Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The H-2A rocket built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) flew in its “202” variation, utilising two additional solid rocket boosters. The IGS-6 spacecraft is the second, third-generation optical reconnaissance satellite built by Mitsubishi Electric Company (MELCO) for use by the Japanese Government.
