After the loss of the commercial satellite AMOS-6, there was more bad news for the Israeli satellite industry. Following a successful launch from the Palmachim launch site by an Israeli Shavit 2 launch vehicle, at 1438 GMT on 13 September 2016, the OFEQ 11 military reconnaissance satellite is reported to have failed.
The OFEQ 11, an electro-optical spacecraft built by IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries), fell into a spin. Engineers were attempting to recover the satellite which uses the OPTSAT 3000 bus design.
