Russia successfully launched a Soyuz 2-1B Fregat vehicle at 1248 GMT 1 July from Vostochny Cosmodrome in Eastern Russia. The vehicle was carrying 36 OneWeb satellites bringing its number of in-orbit units to 254. The satellites were deployed in to a LEO, near polar orbit from where they will now have to raise their own orbits to reach 1,200 km. This latest batch enables OneWeb to begin offering services to regions above 50 degrees North, rounding off its “Five to 50” campaign. With this milestone the company intends to begin offering this service later in the year.
