Satellite operator Thaicom Plc has ordered a fully reconfigurable high throughput communications satellite – as yet unnamed – from Airbus Defence and Space. It will use the software-defined OneSat platform/bus design from Airbus. The communications satellite is planned to operate from geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) over the 119.5 degrees East longitudinal position. Airbus is expected to deliver the new satellite in 2027 and will, in addition, also provide the ground segment for the mission.
