Russia successfully launched a Soyuz 2-1A rocket carrying the Progress MS-17 re-supply vessel in to LEO at 2327 GMT on 29 June. The mission lifted-off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan towards the ISS and was loaded with 2,439 kg of water, fuel, food, air, clothing, and various other items. The freighter is scheduled to dock with the station two-days after launch at 0102 GMT, 2 July.
This Progress craft will initially dock with the Russian Poisk module. However, following the planned launch and arrival at the ISS of the new Russian Nauka module (currently expected in July) it is intended that this freighter will autonomously relocated itself to a docking port on the new module. As it stands this manoeuvre is scheduled for “late-October”.
