A mission from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Northern Russia, saw Soyuz 2-1B rocket with Fregat-M upper-stage carry a satellite to Medium Earth Orbit (MEO). The lift-off occurred at 1908 GMT, 25 October. The payload is part of the Russian satellite navigation constellation, Glonass. The satellite is called Glonass K1-3 (Uragan-K No.15L) and is the third unit of the more modern Glonass K generation.
Once the satellite has been received in-obit and declared operational, it will be given a Russian military COSMOS (KOSMOS) designation like its predecessors.
