The ballistic missile attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen on Saudi Arabia continue. On 19 December, Saudi defence forces used a Patiot missile to shoot down a Scud-based Burkan-H2 ballistic missile fired by the rebels at the al-Yammah Royal Palace in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. A Patriot anti-ballistic missile reportedly successfully intercepted the attacking missile and a cloud of smoke was seen over the capital following the missile-to-missile strike. The strike is the latest in a series of strike attempts by the rebels who are retaliating for Saudi military air strikes and blockades during the civil war in support of the current Yemeni regime.
