While Sky and Space Global (SAS) might be struggling to pay manufacturer GomSpace for its 200 satellite Pearls LEO mobile communications constellation, that has not stopped its ordering some more satellites to improve its global reach.
It has placed an order for eight larger satellites of 6U Cubesat class with Gomspace. These will be placed in a higher-inclination low Earth orbit in order to extend geographical coverage of the main equatorial orbit Pearls constellation of 200 satellites. This new contract’s value is worth 5.2 million euros (US$5.8 million) for the eight satellites, with an option to order eight more.
