The Lockheed Martin-backed small satellite maker Terran Orbital has received an order to build a small geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) communications satellite for GapSat – a satellite capacity broker.  The satellite to be built is expected to be under 100kg in mass and will be called GapSat-1.  It will use all electric propulsion and will offer communications services via transponders  in C-, Ku-, Ka-,Q- and V-bands. The satellite is due to be launched in Q3 2020 although no launch provider has been appointed yet.
