While the solar array problem on its Eutelsat 5 West B spacecraft was a shock, it does not mean that Eutelsat’s ordering plans have changed for the time being. Thales Alenia Space was celebrating the receipt of a construction contract for the Eutelsat 10B communications spacecraft. This high throughput spacecraft (HTS) will be located at a 10 degrees East position in the Geostationary orbital arc and will use the “all electric” SpaceBus NEO design. It will be equipped with a C-band transponder payload and two Ku-band payloads offering 35 Gbps to airline comms firm Gogo et al. The spacecraft has a minimum design life of 15 years and a payload power of 14 kW.
