Under the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) programme, the US Air Force has awarded two multi-launch contracts: one to ULA and one to SpaceX. The three-launch contract was awarded to the United Launch Alliance (ULA) is worth a total of US$442 million. The spacecraft to be launched will be the SBIRS-GEO 5 and 6 early warning satellites, respectively, and the Silent Barker situational awareness mission for the US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).
Under a US$297 million three-launch contract awarded to SpaceX, two missions for the NRO – NRO L-85 and NRO L-87 (from Vandenberg) – and the AFSPC-44 mission for the US Air Force, will be flown by Falcon 9.
All the launches will take place from Cape Canaveral, Florida, in 2021-2022, except NRO L-87 which will fly from Vandenberg in California
