July marked the 75th anniversary of the start of the three-month-long Battle of Britain during the summer of 1940. It was a close run thing. Using a combination of bravery, skill, innovation, and good old British luck, RAF fighter pilots (“the few”) flying their Hurricanes and Spitfires, just about held off Nazi Germany’s Luftwaffe enough to prevent an invasion.
