During July, a Ku-band beam fault on the ABS-2 spacecraft led to outage affecting some customers. The Ku-band service is affected with the equivalent of several transponders to Russia becoming non-operational. Engineers are reported to be working on the problem. The spacecraft which is owned and operated by the Hong Kong-based satellite operator Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) was insured. ABS-2 was built by Space Systems/Loral.
