Almost a century of rocket and spaceflight history at your finger tips

You can now access our online archive of Flight issues, in searchable pdf format, from the magazine’s inception in 1908 to 2004 that report the earliest years of rocketry and the entire history of the space age since Sputnik. From 2004 onwards flightglobal.com’s search engine does the rest

But forty years before the Apollo-Soyuz project in 1937 German science writer and spaceflight advocate Willy Ley, then resident in the US, was writing for Flight about the problems of rocket hoaxes, perhaps a fore runner to those UFO hoaxes

Thirty two years after Ley’s article Flight provided the first pictures of the interior of the Apollo lunar module with this report from March 1969

And here Flight contributor James Oberg explains Russia’s space station programme in the early 1970s

While the Russians were building stations the NASA Space Shuttle was in development and Flight reports here about what price you could expect to get for flying payload on the first resuable spaceplane that was expected to substantially lower the cost of getting into orbit
