While a framework contract had been signed between China Great Wall Industries Corp (CGWIC) and the Hong Kong-based satelilte operator APT, CGWIC fomally announced on 22 November 2013 that it had been selected by APT Satellite Company Limited to manufacture and deliver in-orbit the Apstar 9 spacecraft. The spacecraft will be launched via a transfer orbit to its eventual position in Geostationary Earth orbit over 142 degrees East using a Long March 3B/E launch vehicle in late 2015.
