NASA has formally booked an Atlas V flight to carry its Mars 2020 Rover to the red planet. The rocket launch was procured from the United Launch Alliance and will take place in the Summer of 2020. The rocket will use the heavy-lift Atlas V 541 configuration. The rocket is certified for launches of plutonium which will be used by the rover’s thermal generators.
