A Long March 2D/2 (CZ-2D/2) successfully launched four spacecraft at 0413 GMT on 7 September 2015 from the Jiuquan launch site in China. The largest of the four spacecraft was the 430kg satellite called Jilin-1 which designed to image the Earth for the purpose of monitoring forest fires. However, the 0.7m resolution imagery produced by the satellite is planned to be commercially available.
Lingqiao-A and -B are two “smart video” satellites offering very high resolution moving images, while the 43kg Lingqiao-2 is designed as a technology test satellite. All the satellites, which are civil in nature, were built by Chang Guang Satellite Technology Ltd ostensibly for the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
