Embratel’s Star One subsidiary and US constructor Space Systems/Loral have contracted with Arianespace to launch STAR ONE D-1 geostationary communications satellite on an Ariane 5 rocket in 2016. The 6,000kg satellite is expected to use a version of the Space Systems/Loral LS-1300 bus/platform and will carry a mixed communicaitons payload which will include transponders in the Ka-band offering services over Brasil and Latin America.
