The European communications satellite operator, Eutelsat, has ordered a new satellite to add to its leased Ka-band capacity on Amos-6, to serve Sub-Saharan Africa with High-Throughput communications services. The as yet unnamed 3,200kg satellite, which will be launched into position to offer these services by late 2019, was ordered from Thales Alenia Space. It will carry 65 spot beams and will use all electric propulsion.
