The commercial launch of Astra 2E by a Proton M/Breeze M launch vehicle under the colours of International Launch Services has been postponed from its planned launch date on 16 September. The announcement , which was made on 12 September, noted that engineers from Khrunichev (the Russian firm that constructs and operates the Proton launch vehicle) had received an “out of tolerance” reading on the vehicle’s first stage requiring extra testing before a flight could take place. The communications satellite Astra 2E is being launched under a contract with ILS for the Luxembourg-based commercial satellite operator SES.
