The construction order for the Joint Polar Satellite System-2 (JPSS-2) spacecraft has been awarded by NASA to Orbital ATK with two more spacecraft in the series being held as options. While NASA handles its construction and launch contracts, the JPSS-2 advanced weather satellite is really for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The spacecraft will be launched in 2022.
