Lori Garver has resigned her post as Deputy Adminstrator of NASA to become head of the Airline Pilots Association. Garver has held the post since July 2009, often having to defend policy imposed on NASA by the Obama Administration before having to reverse it under pressure from the US Senate. Garver was appointed to the role as No 2 to Charlie Bolden having been a space policy advisor to several Democratic Party politicians including John Glenn and John Kerry and Hilary Clinton as well as to former NASA Administrator Dan Goldyn. She had previously served as executive director of the National Space Society.
