Exploring Mojave spaceport

The Rotary Rocket will greet you at the sort of entrance to Mojave air and spaceport, the USA’s first in-land spaceport. Last week I found myself at the air and spaceport visiting various people as part of my California trip – I flew back into London this morning

Here is the flightline, down the other end of this long concrete apron is Scaled Composites hangar containing White Knight II

While hanging around I saw this helicopter doing the same for a while

Further away from the flightline, beyond the taxi and runways are the various companies’ test areas. Below you can see Scaled Composites’, where the accident happened in July last year. While there, in the distance, Airlaunch was carrying out some sort of rocket test

And it wouldn’t be a Mojave airport visit without a snapshot of the many aircraft stored there

Finally, here is Orbital Sciences’ Stargazer carrier aircraft at Mojave airport
