After a long illness, Jos Heyman, died on 30th September, 2016. The well known space writer who was born in the Netherlands in 1944, was based in Perth, Western Australia for much of his life. Heyman was an accountant by profession but became an expert writer on spaceflight as a contributor to the British Interplanetary Society’s Spaceflight magazine and more recently as a senior contributor to SatNews.com.

Jos Heyman was also the originator, editor and producer of his e-mailed Tiros Space Information Newsletter which finally ended production due to his ill health last month. We give our salute to Jos and condolences to his wife Noni and to his family.

We at Seradata are also sad to say goodbye to Russian space expert, Oleg Sokolov, who has passed away at the age of 70. Sokolov was originally a Russian helicopter pilot/engineer who was shot down in Syria during the Yom Kippur War (October War) of 1973. After a long experience in the Russian space industry, he worked as a technical consultant to the London and Moscow-based firm Commercial Space Technologies. Most recently he co-edited the World Launcher Review 2015-2016 which was jointly published by CST and Seradata.
