The radio direct broadcasting satellite Sirius FM-6 was successfully launched by a Proton M Breeze M launch vehicle marketed by ILS (International Launch Services) at 1809 GMT on 25 October from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, near Tyuratam in Kazakstan. The satellite was placed into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) from whence it will use its own on-board rocket engine to circularise itself into a Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO). The satellite which is owned by Sirius FM-Radio was built by Space Systems/Loral using a vesion of its LS-1300 bus design and is the sixth in the Sirius FM series to be launched.
