On 27 January 2014, cosmonauts Oleg Kotov and Sergey Ryazanskiy performed another EVA/spacewalking lasting over six hours. Exiting from the Pirs module at 1400 GMT the cosmonauts made a second attempt to install two video cameras on a biaxial pointing platform on the outside of Zarya. The cameras belong to a Canadian commercial company UrtheCast and are designed to downlink Earth Observation imagery. The previous attempt failed after a fault prevented telemetry from both cameras being received on the ground. This time the attempt was more successful, with the high resolution camera working successfully after installation. However the medium resolution camera is still not returning imagery due to a telemetry issue. The hatch of the Pirs module was shut at 2008 GMT ending the spacewalk with the faulty camera still in place. Both cameras were built in the UK by the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
In a subsequent statement, UrtheCast noted that telemetry received from the reinstalled cameras was “within our expected results.”
