A Long March 3B-G2 (CZ-3B-G2) launch vehicle successfully sent the Chinasatcom owned Tiantong 1-01 S-band mobile communications satellite into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) on 5 August 2016. The satellite is expected to raise itself to its final operation position, the geostationary belt, during the next few weeks. The launch from the Xichang launch site took place at 1622 GMT.
